I just have to log my utter amazement at seeing three 10 year olds sitting in my kitchen two days after Christmas day proudly showing off their sparkly new Blackberry mobile phones at a family party! We’re not a posh family but surely Santa must be really pushing the boat out this year – or am I just behind the times? They all sat there coolly holding their bejewelled cases, using their shellaced to death fingernails to text mates and capture moments of adult drunkenness on their cameras. I spotted Pandora bracelets (two on one arm!) stuffed to the brim with charms (minimum £300 a pop!), and designer labels galore –each had turned up in Burberry coats, DKNY jeans, Gucci glasses all topped off with the likes of Ralph Lauren baseball hats. Call me tight and old but is this not a world gone mad?
