So I was just reading this article on technologyreview.com about light-bending metamaterials and in amongst the amazing, wish-fulfilment, invisibility talk was this sentence:
"Ultimately, Di Falco says, Metaflex could have applications such as manipulating light from an LED built into a contact lens for augmented reality, so that computer-generated images are projected onto the wearer's retina."
Jetpacks, invisibility cloaks and hoverboards be damned! This has now topped my future tech wish list. Obviously, having images projected directly onto my eyes has exciting marketing ramifications, but I'm just thinking about how cool it would be to see the world like a terminator.
